First love!

Took me a while of thinking what to write about first love.
What is love? Well my first loves were probably my animals.

When I was a child I would often be found sitting with the chickens or with the rabbit. I would take my rabbits for walks in the dolls pram had a chicken I was rather fond of I believe we ate it one day, well my parents did I refused.

I guess what you really want to hear is my love of a boy. I could tell you of my husband, but I was desperately in love with a boy before him. I was 14 (wasn’t as advanced as today’s kids are)
A R.A.F. family moved into the village with 6 children I made friends with the girl about my age met her brother he was a year older we became friends too.
I liked her brother Mark a lot the feelings grew and grew.
He was at the same school as I,I used to try and sit near to him on the school bus so I could see and hear him.

Mark was very keen on wildlife and nature kept stick insects in his bedroom
We became reasonably good friends meeting each other. Not really many other kids our age in the village. We went for walks he had a duck that had imprinted on him, thought Mark was his mother so often our walks would be accompanied by duck, we climbed trees, caught sticklebacks together …… but no romance.
He went out with a girl from school it was terrible ohhh the jealousy

I tried to get him to notice me, I saw a young squirrel sitting still on the grass under the beech trees near me so I tried to catch this squirrel it would be my ultimate declaration of love but the squirrel bit me ouch so I went to his house (it was nearer than mine) his mum treated my wound I felt really stupid, he still didn’t really notice me and my charms. We continued at platonic friends I was desperate for more.

We went for walks found a dead pregnant hedgehog on the road; very gory he said I wonder if the babies felt the blo
od running down into them.
He chased me with a huge lugworm I pretended to be scared.
The pain I felt when I saw him with his girlfriend.
I never said anything never told him of my love.
One day I was walking on the village green I scratched m k L mk on a tree our names were the same except he was mar k I was mar y our surnames the same I wonder if he ever saw it? ……………..Ohhhhhh we were destined to be together but there was never any romance.
I was in love with this boy for about a year, 18 months then he went away his family moved to Cyprus. The loss I felt when he had gone a huge empty space was left.


After this I met many boys I went into Cambridge on a Saturday night to a club ,left home started tech collage at 16 after my o levels but no one matched up to Mark.

My friend and I feeling fed up one night (she had just broken up with boyfriend) we were reading the sounds music paper looking at the personal adds decided to write one. We wrote… two shy chicks want to meet guys for friendship.

Well a couple of weeks late we received a lot of mail. She was back with her boyfriend so she never replied I did. T
There was a letter from a boy in the town where I went to college ….. We arranged to meet. The first time he kissed me (2nd date) the earth moved … at least his bicycle did he was propping it up with one hand while we Kissed the bicycle fell on top of us it was true love
we have been together ever since 30 years on and 27yrs married (he is keen on wildlife and the environment just like my first love.) but enough I married him and love him still. I wonder where my first love is what happened to him?
