When I was a child, we used to "play out", all the kids of our street and the surrounding ones would join forces to play tag, british bulldog, hide and seek, etc.
We would be in and out of eachothers houses, all the mums and dads were our "aunties" and "uncles", we couldn't say the word "paedophile" let alone know what it meant, and those were the good old days, "ahhhhh, the 50's" you may be thinking, nope, I am 19 years old.

It is so sad that in 10 - 15 years, the world has become a place where you dont just warn your kids against strange men, but against women and other CHILDREN!!!! When I asked my neice why she shouldnt talk to men who she didnt know, she replied
"because they will take you away from your mummy",
"thats right" I told her,
"but aunty sammy, some naughty women and children want to take you away too."
Where has the innocence gone?

This is what it has come to, no one is safe, you have to suspect everyone, it really is a crying shame, but what can you do. Well, information is power, learn about the dangers involving your children, and teach them too. I know it sounds simple, but know where your children are at all times, and who they are with. It is sickening when you see 6 or 7 year old kids out on the street corners without an adult in sight.

I dont want to sound patronising, but be on your guard all the time, it is so easy to think that child abuse, abuction and even murder are things that happen to other people, until one day that person is you.
Being a parent is the most amazing thing anyone can do, so treat it that way, your child is amazing, so lets keep them that way.
