... I would bleed to the extent that I did after the birth. I knew obviously that I would bleed a bit , but I didn't stop bleeding for 8 weeks !! I had only bought a couple of packs of maternity pads , so I soon had to rush out and stock up with more. I think the lady in Boots thought I was mad when I put about 10 packs on the counter !! I am now pregnant for the second time , expecting twins. I have started to buy the maternity pads each week , so I will have enough in stock for when the time comes. The best ones that I ...more

Premium Review Maternity Pads (Sanitary): superdrugs are better (456 words)

After the birth of my first baby i bled for about 6 weeks. Although i knew there would be some bleeding it was a great shock to me as to how much i would bleed. Maternity pads are a lot thicker than normal sanitary towels so they are not as comfortable but you realy do need then as the blood flow is much too heavy for a thin pad to deal with. For the first 3 or 4 days after the birth i got through a pack a day of maternity pads, then it slowed down to a pack every two days for about the next 3 weeks then it slowed to a normal period flow so i went back to my normal pads. I am one of those people who always like to be organized ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Men, don't read this! You have been warned! (748 words)

Before I start, heres a warning 'MEN LOOK AWAY, YOU DO NOT WANT TO READ THIS AS IT WILL PUT YOU OFF THE FEMALE KIND FOR LIFE!'. So you've just popped your little tot out of your vagina and you are bleeding like never before. Every time you stand up you feel a gush that's as powerful as the Niagra Falls and every now and again you feel as if you are giving birth again as a clot as big as a football passes through. You are unable to wear tampons because you'd need to shove about thirty up to fill the huge hole that has been left from your baby's head and shoulders coming through. The thought of actually using them after giving birth is almost as bad as thinking ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Maternity Pads (Sanitary): Buy out the supermarket (635 words)

Short version of this ops: Take lots of pads into hospital. Longer version: You will need LOTS of pads for after childbirth. I didn't realise before I had my first daughter how much you bleed and for how long after childbirth. I bled for a month after both of my girls were born. I was surprised to say the least. Not only will you feel like your insides are falling out (that should last a couple of week max), not only will you have to deal with baby waking every couple of hours, feeling more tired than you've ever felt before (unless you are lucky like my friend Wendy - her last daughter slept EIGHT hours a night from birth. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Pads, Pads and More Pads (384 words)

I'm going to review three different brands of maternity pads here: Boots, Sainsburys and Tesco's. So, here we go..... BOOTS These come in packs of 10 for about £1.50. They are extra long, quite thick, have lots of sticking power and don't have wings. Even though they are so long and thick they are surprisingly comfortable to wear. They are very soft which is a definate bonus when you've just given birth to a 9lb-er!! They are quite absorbent although my only minor complaint is that they tend to "bunch up" a bit which can lead to a bit of leakage out the sides. Overall though, for a thick pad, they get a thumbs up. ...  Read the complete review

Maternity pads ......... now theres a subject !!!! I had my first baby in 2007 , and although I read up on all in ins and outs on the labour and baby care after the birth, I had no idea about how my body would react.
