Advantages: Little side affects

Disadvantages: You have to pay for it, Done as a three shots with a quite a long wait in between each of them

MMR question didn't consern me at all with my first child- my daughter, and 2 years ago she was given an MMR ingection. (At that time there were little or no publicity about that, and I didn't know that there are any side effects). Well, it went fine anyway, hopefully.

Now, when time came to immunise my second baby, who is a boy- I felt that he might be particular sensitive to the vaccine- having read lots of info as well as talking to my friends, I've noticed that boys are usually more at risk of having bad reaction from the MMR vaccine, raiser than girls... Plus my boy is always reacts on everything (Usualy by having rush onhis body)

I always trying to listen to my intuition and this time I felt, that I'm not going to immunise my boy with MMR...

It is a complex question, especialy if it conserns your own children, Thats why it is important to look at all available alternatives.
And instead of leaving the subgect all together, I spoke to my GP, who advise me on separeted MMR vacination. This are given with several weeks intervals in between each of them and usually started with Rubella, but because of recent Measles outbreak in parts of London they do Measels first..

There are not many clinics who offer that service, but if you try, I'm sure you'll find one near you.
They all Private, and some prices I've seen gave me a bit of a shock, but I found one clinic where you pay £60 pound for each vacine (£180 all course)
Its called 'Direct Health 2000' it has offices in London and Liverpool.
Their web site is www.dh2.co.uk.

After filling a short form You need to send it to them with a cheque for £60 pounds (only £30 refundable if you change your mind), then they do appointment in time that suits you. After that you pay for the next "shot" and for the last one.
But its a pesonal choi

My daughter had her first MMR jab with only minor side effects of flu symptons, but the second was the most frightening experience i'd been through. She had a temperature of 104 (hospitalised of course), she really had no idea what was going on around her, she was extremely scared and confused. (as we all were) I decided against having her pre-school top up. I regret letting her have it done the first time, but i was so ill informed of complications.

It's a very difficult decision to have to make.

i suspect that there will always be controversy over vaccine of one sort or another. This seems to have taken over from the previous whooping cough scare! I think as parents we must follow our own conscience- get the info and make an informed decision. Kim :)
