Advantages: eradicates diseases

Disadvantages: why now when it was fine to have them done separately in the 70s

There has been a great deal written and highlighted on the news over the last couple of years. Most controvorsial Tony Blair not saying what decision they went for. I cannot shke the feeling that this sounds like BSE all over again. I mean that with out meaning to strike fear into any one. As parents we all want the best for our children and need to make informed choices.

When I was due for my vaccines back in the 70s my mother chose to not give me the controversial whooping cough vaccine as at teh time it was being linked to brain damage and the possibility that as it is a strong vaccine it could interfer with the hib etc. At the time she was berated by the doctors and yet now after I went against her wishes and got my child vaccinated with the three in one hib, tetnus and whooping cough we are now being told that whooping cough vaccine counteracts with hib and renders it useless. As such all parents that had their children done this year are being recalled to have seperate hib injections. Cannot help but wonder!!!

When I was young MMR Jab as it stands now did not exist. You were injected singuarly with Rubella being done when I was called up by my doctor at age 10. My mum told me that when my sister was being done (4yrs my junior) the gov introduced mixing of all three at the time people were told that it was putting too much strain on the nhs to have them done separately.

My son is due to have his jabs soon and I am left wondering. If we are being recalled to have hib are we going to be recalled in a few years to have MMR separately?

There is a big scare over this which has been fuelled by the media. The serious scientific studies (and there have been many!) show no link between autism and MMR. Also the danger of allowing a measles epidemic is great and that would lead to child deaths.

Its worth doing some research on this subject. The study that said there was a link between autism and MMR only did a study on about 25 kids, there was another study that said there was no connection and that was done with about 12,000 kids!!

I think for such a serious subnext more pros and cons needed to be added
