Advantages: It's everything you need.

Disadvantages: You might need more.

Since my last review on what clothes you should leave the hospital in cheered a few people up, I thought I'd stick along the same sort of lines with this one.

You are getting to the end of your pregnancy. For arguments sake lets say you are 35 weeks. Your bump is as big as the man that lives down the road who is renowned for being an alcoholic. Your ankles have swollen to the same size as your great gran's and your back feel's like it's about to snap in two at any moment. Your face is so fat and puffy it looks as if you have been eating all the pies and you've lost the graceful glide that once was and now waddle like a duck. You're bump is covered in red lines and you'd be a the spit of a Zebra if they were red and white. You are constantly biting people's heads off due to the fact that you aren't sleeping because you can't get comfortable no matter how hard you try, you are in pain with a bad back, hips, hands, ankles, eyes, nose and mouth and everyone is treating you as if you are disabled. You are absolutely fed up to the back of teeth of everyone asking you whether you know what you are having? When you are due? If you've thought of any names? How many weeks you are now? Does it have five noses? Three tongues? And ten eyes?
You are even more peed off with random people that give you random advice on how to put on your 'yet to be born's' sock on or those people that tell you that your baby won't beable to walk and talk as soon as it comes out.
Last of all you are at the point of punching the woman in the face who is ranting on about how she was in labour for 106 days, she was pushing for 6 of those days, her legs were up over the midwifes shoulders, her back was arched over as if she was doing a yoga position, she was passionately making love to her husband at the same time, she had exactly 233 stitches and didn't have any pain relief at all!
Your brain is fried and you have to think about packing your hospital bag.

Well thats where I come in! First off take a nice, long deep breath! And breathe..........and breathe............and breathe.........Now doesn't that feel better? You might want to remember those breaths for when you are in labour. Sorry to remind you about that but it's inevitable and it will happen. That baby has got to come out somehow. Anyway just follow the list below and you will have what you need.

The labour

1) A comfortable piece of clothing to labour in.
I took a button down nightdress similar to what old ladies wear. I ended up labouring in my normal clothes and whipping my jeans off later on. Some hospitals provide those beautiful gowns for you to wear which I would recommend. It saves your stuff getting covered in every bodily fluid imaginable (That makes you think of poo doesn't it....Well before you ask.....I didn't!).

2) Water
A bottle of water is always good. The ones with the non spill tops are even better because if you're having a drink and a contraction starts you may well end up in a swimming pool of water.

3) Lollipop
I found these very useful as they gave me a little sugar burst but also coated my mouth as it became pretty dry.

4) Food
You may get hungry although I was pretty sick and couldn't stomuch anything. Spare a thought for the one who contributed to this whole thing too. He may well need something to keep him going if you are in labour a long time.

5) Camera
For those first lovely moments. You might want to bring a videa camera and some spare batteries too.

6) Laptop
Sounds strange huh? Well my hubby just sat there on his doing office work while I pushed my baby out!!! lol only joking! He bought it because we could share the internet while I was in early labour (I had to be induced and it took a long time). We also had a load of music on there so I could listen to that.

7) Pregnancy notes
Our hospital send you home to get them if you don't remember so be warned!

For after the birth

1) Maternity pads
You will need the biggest, thickest ones you can find as you will bleed like never before!

2) Big pants
Like the ones in Bridget Jones Diary.

3) Breastpads
Even if you don't breast feed you will need these as your boobs leak like running water.

4) Nursing bra
A couple is always good because you might find you leak through.

5) All of the essentials that you'd take to a sleepover!
Hairbrush, makeup, shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush etc

6) Bedtime stuff
Dressing gown, nightdress or pj's and slippers. It's darn hot in the hospitals so you may not use the dressing gown. I stayed in for two days and just got changed into normal clothes everyday but if you're lazy.......I mean feeling unwell then you might need it.

7) Lansinoh cream.
This is the best cream for sore nipples. If you are going to breastfeed this is like a secret weapon!

For baby

1) Items for them to wear when they come out.
A vest, a baby gro, a hat, a cardigan and a nappy. I put this in a carrier bag in with my stuff.

2) Clothes for baby
3 vests, 3 gros, a cardigan, nappies, wipes, cotton wool.

If you forget anything or need anything else then you will probably have some willing friends and family that will pop it up to you so they cn see your newborn and you ofcourse!

Summary: A lovely list for pregnant ladies.
