Advantages: none

Disadvantages: only stocked in certain shops

As a mum of a premature baby imagine to my horror when I could only get low birth weight nappies in two shops, neither of them local to me. I could only find them in Boots and Tesco. Across the road from the hospital I had my baby in was a Mothercare store and a Sainsbury's neither of which stocked the size of nappies I required. There were 15 premmie babies in the unit where my daughter was born and the nearest shop that stocked them was 2 miles away. The hospitals only provide so many nappies for you then you have to provide your own, I pitied the poor dads that had to shop for these nappies as my husband didnt know what he was really looking for. I wrote to Sainsbury's who said that it was not really worth them stocking these nappies as there wasn't that much call for them!!! I am due to have my next baby in January so I have been to Tesco and Boots and stocked up already!!!
Maybe more shops should stock these nappies especially those in the vicinity of a hospital with a special care baby unit!!! Others who are expecting or go into early labour beware!!!!!

Even though i live in a city, there was only one shop which sold prem nappies. When they sold out (they only stocked about 5 packs at a time) my husband had to travel 7 miles to find some more. I understand your frustration!

I have only rated this SU as it really is about a shopping problem more than nappies. How are the nappies? Which are best? Do they work? Are they expensive? etc if you add more information let me know and I will re-read. Hope all goes well with your next baby :o)

My daughter was born on time but was tiny. I had bought newborn nappies and they were so enormous on her that I had to ask my parents to buy me some premature nappies before they came to visit us! Thankfully our local supermarket is Tesco so we had no problem. Jo
