Advantages: Get help

Disadvantages: makes you feel like rubbish

Bad memory, heart palpitations, getting stressed, didnt want to go out, didnt want to get dressed in the morning, took things personally. These were all the things that were happeneing to me but i didnt think i was suffereing from PND because i wasnt crying all the time. One day i had just had enough of my pathetic life, and was feeling very miserable. I went to get my 4 month old daughter weighed and said to the health visitor "how can you tell the difference between stress and post *sob* natal *sob sob* depression *sob sob sob*? It was a relief to finally cry and we sat down and talked. She said i was and that i was to go see my doctor straight away. My doc was brill, she has 3 kids and went through PND with all of them. She explained to me that this was an illness and it's not a case of 'you can't cope', its a treatable illness and that i would come out on top. I found that very hard to believe because i was feeling so down. But she was right, after taking anti-depressants for 5 months, i was back to my old self.
I guess the point i am trying to make is that you don't need to be crying all the time to have PND. If you are not back to your old self after having your child, speak to your health visitor, most know how to recognise the signs and there is a lot of support out there for you. Good luck everyone with PND!

pnd is a terrible thing to go through but alot of women dont think that they need help it takes a while for them to ask for help even,A very awkward thing to deal with but support from family and friends help.
