Advantages: friends, support, an escape

Disadvantages: none I love my sure start

My local sure start center is called the art room and I have been going there for just over a year now.
The center runs a few different groups and is popular with the mums on our estate.
The groups that are currently running are

Stay and play - This is run on a monday afternoon and friday morning, its about interacting with your child and they set out activities to help you do that.

Tumble time - This session is run by a local gymnastic school whoc come in on a wednesday morning for a hour and at 50p is a lot cheaper than the other gyms around here.

Mummies and tummies - This is for expectant mums and ones with babies not yet on the move, most pop in for a cuppa.

Waiting for baby - midwife run session.

Calebs - Is for special needs children and here they do a lot of sensory play. Its also a help for the parents and carers of these
children.

Dads at the art room - 1st saturday of the month for dads only and they get a cooked breakfast.

They have also just started up a new session at another building on the estate called the family drop in and this is a more relaxed session more like a mums and tots.

The center also hosts courses I have just done a speak easy course with the family planning association and am currently doing a course called the Nurturing programe which is with ACE.

The course up and coming are first aid for children and babies and food hygiene.
All these courses provide a free creche and are free.

the sessions run are all 50p

During the school holidays they do a play scheme up to children aged 8 which is really good they charge £1 a family on this.
We went to southend during the school holidays which was great.

I think the centers best asset is the staff Holly, mark pete and judith are the great play organisers.

And charlote, sian and collette in the office are so well organised.

If you have a center it really is worth a visit. I only wished I started to go earlier.

Summary: a fantastic center and the staff ecxellent

I wish we had this in my area, but they only seem to be in the cities!
