Advantages: loads

Disadvantages: u get judged by everyone....

i am a mother of three, i had my first baby at 18, i had been with my boyfriend for nearly 2 years we were happy and lived together, we both worked full time 6 days a week and when i missed a period - even though i was attually on the pill... we were both over joyed!!
i was suprised at some peoples reactions - 'are you aborting it' (i do not believe in abortion - well not in my case) and 'you cant have a baby your too young' i couldnt believe people were judging me... i even had to have a 'young mum midwife'
i was 18... i was legally an adult... i could get married without consent, vote, gamble, drink alcohol, got to clubs, get a morgage or a loan, a credit card - but in peoples opinion too young to carry a baby for 9mths, give birth, nurse it, love it and care for it and teach it.
being a mum came completely natural to me. i am a good mum and my children have all they need - i stay at home because i believe i should be the one to teach them the things they need to know not a childminder (but thats a whole new debate lol... going there next!) and my other half works full time.

i am NOT saying.... i completely agree with teenage pregnancy, all im saying is that we are not all benefit skanks and irresponsible silly girls and that some people should be a little more open minded and not asume we have all made the biggest mistakes of our lives....
i wouldnt change the way we did things for the world, i may have missed out on a bit of partying and heavy drinking but is that such a bad thing?
id rather of had kids now whist i have the energy and stamina! i cope just as well as a mum who is 10 years older.

Good for you for having your baby and not giving in to pressure for abortion! I was seventeen and felt the same. It's not a great idea to have a baby deliberately at that age (especially on benefits) but if it's an accident, it's not the end of the world if you've got support from your man. It's payback time in your thirties when your child's in their teens and everyone else has got toddlers to cope with. :)

ANy animosity to teen mums is only to the ones that do it to go on benefits, which many do.

You need to open your work witha capital babe.:< Always use abig 'I' when talking about I.:>
