Breastfeeding debate (The Breastfeeding Debate)

Advantages: best for your baby, and its free!! Disadvantages: going out in public The breatfeeding debate is a very difficult subject to tackle. It has so many sides to it. For example, it is not very easy to breastfeed out in public without people looking discusted at you, or embarrassed. I breastfed my first baby. I was sure that I wanted to do it as I was told that it was the right thing to do, and it was healthiest for my baby. So being a responsible parent I wanted to do the best for my new baby. Unfortunately it became very difficult when I needed to go out in public. I found that there was no where I could discreetely feed my baby, other than in my car. So this is what I did whenever I could, but even then I would get people nosing in the windows giving me disgusting looks. I found it really hard. Also there is the side of it that not many people realise until they try it.... It is actually really difficult sometimes. Some babies just don't want to suckle, or they can't take to it if your milk isn't right. My baby was a big boy at 9lb 15oz, and I only managed to breast feed for 5 weeks. Then I was made to feel like a failure because I could'nt take it any longer. It is really draining, and hard going. Having said that, I am pregnant again, and will still breastfeed my next baby, because I know it is the best thing to do. I do understand that people don't want to see it in the streets, but you don't actually see anything you should'nt, yet still people are funny about it. If we were alot more accepting of it, it would be much easier to do. Come on you lot out there, open your minds a bit more!!!! Summary: a little bit about the troubles of beastfeeding |
