It is a very sensitive subject to debate but this is my opinion....

In my opinion Breastfeeding is best for your child however i dont think it should be so frowned upon to bottle feed. I had my little boy in June 08 and would have loved to breast feed, but it just didnt happen for us. He did suckle for the first time but he just wouldn't after that. I tried everything expressing included but nothing worked. In the end my baby went without food for 2 days which i kept being told was fine but he was crying because he was hungry and so i decided to give up and bottle feed.
By some of the midwives this was frowned upon, but luckily there was one who was very supportive and helped me get over feeling guilty. She said a happy mother equals a happy baby... i will never forget this. I was really upset he wasnt feeding and worried he had went without food for a couple of days as well as feeling guilty i couldnt breast feed. But he got the 'gold dust' as the supportive midwife kept telling me, he got the first most important stuff.
When i changed to bottle feeding i was much happier and so was my baby! So in my opinion i think its a personal choice, obviously it is better for you and your baby if you decide to try to breast feed but in alot of cases it doesnt work out so dont feel guilty if this happens! There is a lot of pressure out there to breast feed but its your baby at the end of the day.

Summary: obviously breast is best but bottle feeding shouldnt be so frowned upon!
