Advantages: The benefits are endless for yourself and baby

Disadvantages: Its really not for everyone

I have mixed views on this subject. I have three children and i had my first at age 17, and i can honestly admit now that my choices then were immature. I chose to bottle feed because i was far to embarrased to breastfeed then.
I had my send child 7 years later and i wasnt really sure about breastfeeding then either, i cringed when i saw pictures of a baby being breastfed. But as soon as my daughter was delivered the midwife asked me if id like to try it and when she latched on immediately i was so proud of myself and the instant bond i felt with her was amazing. And it really helped me gain my figure back quickly too.
I managed to breast feed her for 10 weeks and i gave it up when i started back at my job. I remember feeling upset as we were losing that closeness. But we have remained so close after this and i think part of that is through breastfeeding.

I recently had my third daughter and i breastfed her straigh from birth. Once i got her home i really stuggled with it this time round. She is a really hungry baby and was nipping and biting my nipple a lot. I rememeber bring in tears a lot and was getting so stressed as i couldnt latch her on for the pain in my breast. And i was terrified to tell my midwife that i wanted to go onto bottles. I had got myself into a hell of a state worrying about it.

After a few more days i changed to the formula and she accepted it no problem and my midwife was really understanding about it all and i was a lot more calm and able to bond with my baby.

So basically, i think breast is def best but its also not for everyone either. I wouldnt think any less of a woman becasue she bottle fed. Its personal choice and some people find it a lot easier than others. I was once told by a midwife that even if i breast fed my child for one day then even thats ding her a world of good. So i think i would recommend that women try it and if they dont take to it then thats fine. As long as your a loving mother to your child and nuture it then your doing all the right things.

Summary: Try and see what you think
