I tried to breast-feed my children. Managed 3 months with the first before drying out, 4 weeks with the second before her hunger frustrated her beyond belief, around 2 weeks for the following 2 boys, again hunger took over and I didn't bother with the fifth apart from 5 days colostrum feeding.

I simply did not produce enough milk. Impossible, I hear you all cry, and I have heard the same from Dr's and nurses alike. The more you feed the more you will produce.

There were days when I had a baby on my nipple for 5 - 6 hours and the baby was still crying and hungry.

You talk about sore nipples?!? I know about sore nipples.

The moment I admitted defeat and gave into bottle-feeding my babies all settled down and were from then on content.

As for bonding, well, I don't think I am any less bonded with my youngest, who had the least than with my eldest who had the most.

Babies Dads had the chance to bond too. Well, there's a thought!

I'm still breastfeeding my girl (17mnth,- 2 times a day- and I pregnant with my second child, trying to stop, but it is very hard

OPbviously you did your very best for eaxh of your children and are to be congratulated for your efforts. heather found some early difficulties with our first, but it was then a bit like riding a bike.

However, I was a bottle baby (and I would use that as my excuse for being very fond of liquids dispensed from 'other bottles'. However, our children ahve all followed me in their preferences for alcoholic beverages (with our younger daughter having gained the nick-name 'hollow-legs' whilst at univeristy). Thus it must all be in the genes !
