Advantages: Twice as funny, twice as lovely.

Disadvantages: Twice the work and twice the cost!

From the age of 13 I had decided I wanted twins, quite why I did is beyond me but, I was fortunate and I'm now the very proud mummy of two gorgeous girlies.
We found out at 7 weeks as I had to have an early scan, they were already playing havoc with my sciatic nerve. I was ecstatic!
From that point onward I read lots of books about raising twins, educating twins, breastfeeding twins etc etc and made myself very aware of all the complications and complexities.
Approaching 20 weeks and curious for the sexing scan I had convinced myself that I really wanted one of each sex, then I would know how I felt about having each and could experience being a parent to each, but something quiet inside was hoping for two girls, and they are! Non identical girls.
The scan sent me spinning off into a shopping frenzy, now finally able to buy items in colours other than neutral.
My pregnancy was hilarious for the most part, I had no mornings sickness, not ever! However, I couldn't tolerate greasy food and would vomit for hours if I thought I could get away with it. Not that I mind, I'm not a fan, but it meant I ate an extremely healthy diet, when the girls were born at exactly 37 weeks they were a pretty respectable 5lbs 8.5oz and 5lbs 9oz.
It was a c section as both were breech, I hated that and I hated the initial inability to do anything for myself, 6 weeks recovery to the point of driving again drove me insane.
Being a parent was mostly a blur in those early weeks, I recall bringing a mattress into the lounge and camping in the lounge for days at a time, trying to snatch sleep between visitors, feeds and nappies.
The turning point was at 10 weeks when we began the lamest sleep training in the world, but it worked and I had evenings again, like a real grown up!
Since then it's been an ever changing cycle, life is forever more complex, my poor washing machine is under duress yet life has never been so full of love and laughter. They are hilariously funny and more so because of one another. They are happy and again, more so because of the other. They are best friends and worst enemies and my biggest fans and me theirs.
It's unique, the relationship they have with one another and which the parents have is unlike a standard sibling arrangement, though equally lovely.
Though twice the work it is twice the laughs and twice the love!
