Advantages: Great kids, Sucess

Disadvantages: No sleep, No life

Being a single parent is more than one thing. It's lots of things. And for me, single parenting right now means NO SLEEP.

When you are a single parent, there are so many roles to play, you end up getting lost somewhere between roles. I'm not just talking about being a Mom and a Dad to my two kids. No, that would be a challenge. I'm talking about being a full time Mom/Dad and going to school full time. After all. I have to make a better living for my kids. Right. That means college education. Oh, and don't forget, full time employee, right? Got to support the kids. Right. So. Hmmm. Mom, Dad, Student, Employee. That should cover it. Right. Nope. Sorry. You have to add in Sister, Daughter, Friend, Cousin.... etc. Your not allowed to drop out of the family just because your tired.

So... I work nights to pay the bills. I go to school days to make a better living. I spend time with the kids in the evening to be a good Mom/Dad. I talk/visit/be a part of the family in the mid day. Hmmm.. somethings missing here? What have I forgotten. I don't know. Maybe I could think of it if I weren't so tired. Oh well. It must not be that important. I'll think about it later. As I was saying.

Oh, I'm sorry. I was saying that time management is very important when you are a single parent trying to get by and improve the life for you and your kids. You really have to prioritize your life and try to take things one step at a time. Because if you try to see the whole picture, sometimes it can be terrifying. "I've got to keep this schedule for how many years?!!!" So don't be discouraged, just keep your priorities in mind and don't sweat the small stuff. I still can't shake the feeling like I'm forgetting something.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Huh?! Oh, yeah. I was also saying that some things have to be more important than others. Sometimes it'
;s more important to forget the homework and play a video game. The balance between setting a good example for your kids and being with your kids is a hard one. But it is reachable. Just remember that parenting is fun. You can get caught up in all the roles your suppose to play and forget the ones you want to play. Sometimes it's necessary to do something you want to do instead of what you have to do. It's essential to keeping sanity. There was something else.....

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

What was I saying? Oh yeah. It's also important to remember that you are a human being too. Don't forget yourself in this mix up. More often than not, it is yourself that suffers in situations like this. We become so wrapped up in helping others, doing things for others and caring for others that we forget to take care of ourselves. It's the typical single mom syndrome. So don't forget to treat yourself to a bubble bath. Or a movie you wanted to rent. Or even splurge for a baby sitter and go out one night. Egads!!! A social life? It is possible. You just have to manage your time wisely. Now what was it that I was forgetting???

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

What? What? Jeez. I can't remember what it was. I guess I'll remember it some time later.... OH WAIT!! That's it. When your setting up your busy schedule, don't forget that you have to sleep sometimes. Now I think I'll go take a nap. Sweet dreams.

LOL, Tash, I haven't found them yet. Even though I have moved and my situation has changed, I think it's going to take me about 10 years to catch up on my zzz's. I've moved in with my best friend, her husband and their kids. I think for the first month all I did was sleep. It's getting better though. Thanks for reading and commenting, Peace, Shadowtwin

I don't know how you do it so taking my hat off to you. I would literally go potty without hubby even if he is a bit hapless LOL. Nice amusing opinion, know what you mean about the zzzzzz's though I could do with a few myself. If you find out where they're hiding let me know! Tash xx

Quinna, you know you are my inspiration too. Thank you. You are my light and my note taker. You have reminded me since I've been here to take care of me. I'm getting pretty good at it too. If I have too much more fun, I may become a wanton ~wink~ Love you. Peace, Kimber

Calypte, thanks for your comments. It is a work of love. You are right, it is well worth the effort, at least most days ~evil grin~ I have often threatened to trade my kids in on a ticket to the British Isles. But mostly they know I'm kidding.

LOL Peace, Shadowtwin
