Its a personal choice (Working Mums vs. Stay at Home Mums)

Advantages: Staying at home is positive for some Disadvantages: Staying at home is negative for other A very sensitive and possibly controversial question. There are some mums that stay at home and would love to work but cannot afford the childcare costs, while others cannot afford not to work. In my opinion it should ideally be left to personal choice. Some mums - or dads - would go stir crazy staying at home all day, every day caring for a child. This does not mean they do not love their child or even that they love them less than someone who loves staying at home. These types of people should go back to work. They will be happier in themselves and therefore the time spent with their child will be of a higher quality. Similarly those who want to stay at home and raise their children should be equally free to do so. Saying all this, I am convinced that very young babies do need some time to bond with a main carer and I cannot stand the thought of 6 week old babies being placed in nurseries for full days, as they do not get the one to one care and bonding they need. My personal choice for a young baby would be a childminder if I was unable to stay at home. Summary: You cannot make a sweeping statement that rings true for all parents |
