Advantages: having money to spend on my girls and not having to rely on others

Disadvantages: loosing the bond

I have two young daughters and I work full time. I have always worked and I don't really think it was an option for me to stay at home as I was the higher earner out of me and my partner and we really needed the money coming in after having two children.

I work 32 hours a week and only work week day. I do 9 hours a shift so I usually have a day off in the week too. My partner works weekends so we find it a lot easier and we are more at rest knowing that we are bringing up our children and not having to rely on others. It is very hard as my eldest daughter does not understand and often gets very emotional at times when mummy has to go to work . I have been back 9 months now as I was off for 10 on maternity leave after having our second daughter. This has been very tough for me as I have seemed to lost my bond with my daughter. Well to put it a different way she has turned into a "daddy's girl" rather than a "mummy's girl". We still do have valuable time together at home when my partner is at work on weekends so that's nice.

I would love to finish work and be a stay at home mum but my partners wage just wouldn't stretch that far. My partner is a loving dad and my children love to spend time with him. I like it that I am able to buy my children nice things and we can save for nice holidays etc...I don't think it matters which parent stays at home and in our case its daddy.

Summary: it doesnt matter which parent stays at home
