Advantages: Not missing out on childs development

Disadvantages: Buidling social skills and prepartation for school

This is a very interesting subject and I dont like to make any judgement as every family situation is totally different.

I am a mum to an 11 month old baby boy, when we decided we would like to start a family we both wanted me to be a stay at home mum if we could continue to do so. Financially we could afford all of our bills but would have to compramise a few luxuries. When my baby was 7 months old my mum offered to have him for 1 day a week if I wanted to return to work so after careful consideration I decided to do so, mainly just to earn a little extra money to be able to take my little boy to more activities.

But I also find workind one day per week creates a good balance for both myself and my little boy. It means I get to interact with adults and have a day away from home as I do get lonely and feel some days are repetative, I miss my little boy dearly whilst I am working but it is peace of mind knowing he is with my mum. Which makes him less clingy and he learns new things from his grandmother. The rest of the week is time for just him and I where we attend music classes, toddler groups and gyms clubs and have quality time at home with him learning new things all of the time.

I have many freinds who have had to return to work for financial reasons and there little ones are thriving in Nursery, they interact well with other children they are more independant. I do think that children in full or part time childcare have an easier steping stone into full time education when they reach 5.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both scenarios.

Summary: There isnt a right or wrong answer

My mum has worked 2 nights a week since me and my brother were born. She used to work Friday and Saturday nights so that my dad could look after us while she was in bed. Great review. xx
