Sometimes its not an option (Working Mums vs. Stay at Home Mums)

Advantages: Time to develop a bond,to witness milestones Disadvantages: Financial dependency on the state, harder to return to work I'm 22 and have two children aged 2 and 3, when i fell pregnant with my first, my son, i had a good steady job working in a well known and very reputable store in milton keynes. i knew straight away i wanted to stay at home and raise my child, at least until he started school. My partner and i had discussed this and done the figures and had figured that we would just about get by. After the birth, this worked well, i stayed home with the baby while he worked until when my son was 4 months old i fell pregnant again with my daughter. Again we seemed to cope quite well, or so i thought. When she was 14 weeks old he walked out on us leaving me with two very young children, at that point going to work wasn't an option for me as my daughter was premature and needed frequent medical treatment. so, here i am, still on benefits, trying to find a job. Easy, some people say, there are loads of jobs in mk. Thats true and i have applied for somewhere in the region of 70 jobs, but as soon as i state that i have two toddlers, both premature and with breathing problems, they suddenly decide that i'm not the right person for the job. I haved loved my time at home with my children but now they're approaching nursery age i would love to regain my independence financially and return to work. My kids are happy and content, although my son seems to have a mild behavioural problem but i have a fantastic relationship with them both. They are loving and affectionate and i honestly believe if i had thrown them into nursery any earlier, i would not have developed this bond with them. Summary: Depending on your personal situation, either is a good option. |
