Advantages: You get to spend all those precious moments with your kids

Disadvantages: Having that responsibility 24/7 can be very tiring

I feel very strongly about this subject as being a stay at home mum, I have been asked on several occasions what I actually do all day! I really have to bite my tongue when I get that response as I feel that some days I genuinely do not stop from the moment I get up to the moment I go to bed! I'm sure lots of other mums know exactly what I mean!
I have a 14 month old daughter and we are lucky enough to be able to afford for me to be at home with her. I understand that some mums have no choice but to go back to work otherwise they would not be able to pay the mortgage etc and money would be too tight. However, I feel that if you have planned to have children and can afford to stay at home then surely that is what you should do. I don't see the point in deciding to start a family and then leaving your children with someone else for the first few years of their life. That means someone else gets to witness all their milestones, gets to enjoy all the fun times and as a result those precious moments are lost forever! My daughter's first word was Mummy and it was the best feeling in the world to hear her say it for the first time!
I'm hoping we will have another child and then when they are both at school I would like to go back to work part-time but until then I can't think of any job more rewarding (even with all the challenging times!) than looking after my little girl! If you're fortunate enough to be blessed with a child then enjoy every minute of it. I really feel for those who have no choice but to return to work.

Summary: If you can afford it take the opportunity to spend all those precious moments with your children
