I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but didn't know where else to put it. What is our world coming to? There used to be a time when we were advised not to walk down alleyways on our own after dark. Those were the days. In our local paper just this week, there's been a child of fourteen years exposed to on their way home from school at 8.30pm in the morning as she walked through a local park on her way to school. . Then on Friday I was totally amazed to read the headlines. Brutal attack on Woman aged 62. She had been brutally beaten by an intruder in her own home at 3pm in the afternoon. She was alone in the house and heard noises and confronted a burglar who turned round and beat her about the face. Those incidents are just two of the many in our papers daily. I can't believe this is happening. On occasions I don't feel safe in my own home whilst my husband is working nights. Should I be made to feel this way? I don't think so. What annoys me more than anything is if either of these attackers are caught, what will happen to them? Maybe a warning or a short sentence maybe as much as 6 months then let off after 2 on good behaviour. I really feel to make our country safe again we need to start handing out stiffer sentencing and then keeping them locked up and don't give them benefits holidays but treat them how they deserve to be treated.
