Advantages: A safer future?

Disadvantages: Child terrorist?

Yes it is an epidemic! Events occuring in the UK, are happening in the US! Certain children that were under-age when they committed a heinous crime, will soon be released. In UK it is the story mentioned in the caption, where an older boy beat a child to death. In the US, it`s those younger children in the school shootings in Arkansas!

All society feels the impact, when a child commits a crime, or a murder. Remember the British couple that was killed in Miami, at the hands of a 13 year old. How far should we let children go before we say "IF YOU DO THE CRIME, YOU DO THE TIME!"

I remember as a child, when my friends use to say that the law can`t punish minors. Our big thing was getting a few fireworks, that are illegal where I live! What I am trying to say is that most minors know this law and use it to their advantage.

Children should be made very aware of the consequences of their actions. Laws here are being changed (AT LEAST THERE IS A PUSH TO DO SO!), to lower the age of being considered an adult from 16 to 13. That means a 13 year old will go on trial as if he were an adult.

I must go look up this story that happened just recently. I read it briefly, but I believe that a 13 year old was just sentanced to 20-40 years in prison(I`ll have to look it up, and correct myself within the next couple of days). He killed a little girl doing wrestling moves he saw on TV.(THE STORY-A 12 year old punched, kicked, and stomped his 6 year old playmate to death, imitating pro wrestlers. Now at 13, a jury convicted the boy of first-degree murder. He faces LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE!).

I feel that if they are aware of their actions, then the punishment should fit the crime. Make no mistake if the crime was planned, that is a guilty verdict. Military Boot Camps seem to be working, but there are mixed reviews. But let us not forget, that discipline begins at home.
