Advantages: feeling safe when criminals locked up, sleep at night instead of listening for burglars etc

Disadvantages: they get pampered in jail, and learn more crimes , so solitary confinement only way to go.

As a victim of crime(many times),i think a marvelous idea would be bring back conscription. For 16/25 year olds.

I have been watching the 50`s Lad`s Army, programme on itv,and its marvelous. The discipline would do them good, and they`d be too knackered to rob, burn our cars, homes, or kill, and rob old ladies,or do the other unacceptable things they do to terrorise us all.

And i may be able to walk to my local shops without being robbed or taunted by youngsters who you just know are going to end up in jail,if they not already been that is.And to come home not dreading another break in or my house being burnt to ground again.

Im too young to remember conscription, but my dad was always on about it.The discipline, and the fact that kids respected people and property. And the crime rates were so few as they were all in the army.

Mind you young offenders are a product of their parents dragging up.Children arent born bad, they are made that way!!.

They probably are the product of a one parent family, who only knows the, culture of "The Government owe me a living" And we let them believe it.
And they get into the idea that if they want it, you`ve got it, they take it.With no remorse or care for how you feel as the victim of these menaces to our society.

Im sick and tired of the do gooders`, that sit on judges benches, with no idea of living among these youngsters. And after they release them back to terrorise us all again.they(judges), disappear to their lovely rural homes, far from the true crimes of city and large housing estate life.

Im not afraid of speaking the truth, and as a taxpayer i have a right to walk the streets, without fear of kids who should be locked up.Im fed up with "its not their fault",bleatings from parents and social workers..I believe if they are old enough to commit the crime, they are old enough to face the consequenses, and should be tried as adults.non of this soft opti
on stuff.

So a few years of discipline in the army, with no get out option would do them a power of good. And who knows they may even turn out to be worthwhile citizens.

Its time we took back control of our country and estates from "protect the yob rules" we have.Lets start making the victims of these young offenders, take back control and make the sentences of these yobs fit the crime And maybe teen crime may drop if we showed we were serious about it ,instead of pandering to them.

Take back our rights to live in a safe society.Dont pay lip service, get up fight for what you believe in,get these waste of space losers off our streets. There are dozens, and dozens of help charities for criminals, and only one for victims!!.

Now that is crazy. Its a society that encourages crime and we have to revese that.

I really dont care if your offended by this,as if you are,you havent been a victim of these little animals,as i have time and again. Its time we victims said whats really on our minds, and stopped being so blooming politically correct!!.

Fair enough, you're angry and feel betrayed by our society's police force, but your opinion is ridiculous-

Just because a part of the youth have a violent, criminal element to them, you say the whole youth population should suffer a loss of freedom, and unpleasant treatment of a drill instructor many people would rather never meet, let alone be co-erced into obeying, for the crimes of a small number of them.

Next thing you'll suggest all men should have their manhood removed to prevent some of them from committing rapes.

The conscrption idea is silly - go and ask some senior Army officers if they want to see conscription back, and I guarantee most will say "no way". They want a professional force, not a gang of thugs.

gothbutte rfly: Sorry, can't resist this... you *can* start sentences with "and", and you should have a space after a comma. Rule One of complaining about people's English: get your own right first! (Yes, I've been burnt on this too....)

right o.k. in the past three years I've been burgled twice, had my car broken into five times and nicked once (all uninsured cos of my postcode being a no-no) and had the education centre where i worked burnt down with the loss of thousands of hours of love and labour. Still think this is tosh though. Oh yeah I've been beaten up twice in Aldershot and once in Portsmouth by representatives of our fine military. That ok? Or is it just your experience that's valid?
