bedtime routine i found was the key (Your Baby and Sleep in general)

Advantages: you can tackle anything with more sleep Disadvantages: are there any disadvantages to getting more sleep? I dont think anything can prepare you for the sleepless nights when you have a baby. At the end of my pregnany i didnt sleep a lot and thought oohh great ill be getting used to been up all night however its a total different kind of tiredness. They key to having them sleep through the night i found was a good bedtime routine. this way baby and parents know where they are and baby knows what to expect next. I started my twins bedtime routine at around 6 weeks old and it was the best thing i did apart from putting them in their own bedroom (because my partners shuch a noisy sleeper.) I used to give them a nice bath at around 6pm, not every night but it helped settle them, get them dressed into their babygrwo then feed them in the living room with the lights low (bearing in my mind we live in a flat had we not have done i would probably feed in the bedroom). There was no talking so it was really quiet atmosphere then wed lay them down awake to settle themselves usually always by 7pm. It took a few weeks for them to get used to it but by 8 weeks they were sleeping 12 hour nights evry night. I also fed them every 3 hours during the day just to get a few extra ounce down them to help them last longer before they were hungry. Once you get more sleep you can tackle just about anything! Summary: relaxed and calm atmosphere along wth a bedtime routine and every 3 hour bottles during the day |
