      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Low price & high class

I'm fairly new to shopping at Aldi but am continually surprised by the absolute perfect quality of most of their products. This rice is one of them, previously I always bought the leading brand of rice in varying forms, microwavable, on the hob, boil in the bag etc and then I thought for the price of around 80 pence I will save a few quid each time and try this one, I was in no way dissapointed. It's not gloupy which I what I was expecting for a 'cheap' rice, it's perfectly fluffy rice with a really nice taste and versatile enough to go with anything. We usually match it with Aldi's curry sauces - which are absolutely 5* - aldi nans or pittas and aldi chicken, it's a meal we all look forward to having and clean plates are a guarantee.
Save your money and buy this rice, the quality is outstanding

      A great rice!

On a Friday in my home we quite often have something served with rice whether it be a chilli or a curry (like tonight!). We usually have Uncle Ben's rice but for the past few weeks my Mother has been doing a little shopping in Aldi and we've been consuming and enjoying this! I have also used this rice a few times and it's now our rice of choice and at about 80p a bag it offers great value!

      The Packaging:

The bag is clear plastic apart from the middle of the bag (on both sides) being black. On the front I'm told it is Worldwide foods Easy Cook Rice, there is a picture of the rice on the front and I'm told it is Gluten free, suitable for Vegetarians and there is an at a glance nutritional chart on there. On the back of the bag other information includes being told a little about the product, a full nutritional chart is shown, I'm told how to cook it (cook in a saucepan for about 20 minutes or microwave it for about 8 minutes), the size is stated (which in this case and as far as I'm aware of the only size this is available to purchase in) 1kg and contact details for Aldi are given. It is a resealable bag which we do appreciate too making it easy to store and all in all it's a nice enough looking bag and it's informative enough too without it being over bearing.

      The Rice:

The only ingredient in this of course is rice. It's a translucent light yellowy colour and dried and we personally only have ever cooked this on the hob. The only problem with this is in my mind is there is no portion guide on it so I never know how much to cook but I simply add it to boiling water with a pinch of salt in it and wait for it to plump up into fluffy white rice.

Never have I had any problems cooking this rice. Providing you add enough water to it, it doesn't stick and/or burn and it does cook in the time estimated on the back of the bag so it's not rocket science lol.

      Results:

Fluffy white rice that is well formed and doesn't go to slush, it simply holds very well and is moist enough without being soggy. It tastes like rice, it looks like rice and has no hard bits in it or odd flecks of anything that shouldn't be in there. It is simply what it is. I always rinse off my rice through years of being advised to but with this there is no real need to. No scum appears or anything!

Great served as a side dish of plain rice, course you can add this to dishes or make up more flavoursome and interesting rice dishes if you want to. Versatile....it is!

      A great buy!
