Tasty, fuss free rice what could be simpler!

In my home we love rice and on a Friday at the moment we've been having a store bought curry for our tea and My Mum has been buying various rices to try out, the latest being this one.

      The Packaging:

Square plastic, see-through in places and black and green pouch and there is a photograph of the rice on the front. I'm told it is Worldwide Foods Pilau Rice 'Microwavable cooked pilau rice, a perfect meal accompaniment' and I'm told it's suitable for Vegetarians and that it contains no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives and there is an at a glance nutritional chart on there. On back of the pouch other information includes being told a bit about the product, I'm told how to cook it (you can microwave this in 2 minutes or boil it for 2-3 minutes), nutritional information in full is given, ingredients are listed along with allergy advice, size is stated which is 250g and contact details for Aldi are given. It's a nice looking, easy to store pouch this and it's informative enough too.

      The Rice:

Well it's cooked already and in appearance resembles long grain rice. It has a hint of cardamon and clove smell wise to it and is coloured using turmeric spice so it has a nice rich yellowy colour to it and it's glossy looking. All round it looks good and smells very nice too!

We heat ours up in the microwave and it really does only take a couple of minutes to get it piping hot and cooked to perfection. Fuss free too, you only snip the pouch and cook it in the packaging it comes in!

Taste wise well we all are unanimous in this verdict! It's great. Great quality smooth tasting rice that isn't mushy or soggy but well formed with a bit of bite to it whilst being very well cooked though. You can taste the rice, turmeric, it has a slight onion taste to it and is well seasoned and the spices in this like the cardamon and clove are really light and well blended into this making it interesting and flavoursome! It's a great unsticky, ungreasy and tasty rice that is so easy to heat up and I love the fact that it's a dryish rice with no juice but is moist in itself. We shall eat this time and time again I'm sure!

      Allergy Advice: Gluten free.
Warning: May contain traces of egg and celery.
