      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Not brilliant, no awful but passable

I love pasta but I get very bored of plain pasta so when I spotted this spicy sausage tortelloni on offer in Asda with any two packs of their pastas in the refrigerator section for 2 for £2.50 I decided to give it a go (or can be purchased singly for £1.50).

      The Packaging:

The pasta comes in a see through, square plastic tub with a peel off lid to the top of it and that lid is see-through and green in colour and on that I'm told that it is Asda 'Chosen By You', Made In Italy Spicy Sausage Tortelloni 'Fresh egg pasta filled with spicy Italian Mortadella sausage and pork. Perfect with our tomato and chilli sauce. Cooks in 5 minutes. Serves 2' and that it is freezable, there is an at a glance nutritional chart shown and the best before date is clearly displayed. On the bottom of the tub other information listed includes ingredients and allergy advice being given, there is a full nutritional chart shown as well as the weight being stated (which in this case is 300g and the only size I have seen this available to purchase in), cooking instructions are given (cook in water in a saucepan for 5 minutes and drain) and contact details for Asda are given.

      The Pasta Itself:

The tortellini are small yellow looking sealed parcels. They are a completely dry food to the touch before cooking and contain no smell to them at all. I found these to cook well in 5 minutes and simple to drain and serve and they didn't serve out sloppy or lose their colour or anything like that.

The pasta, to me contained little taste really and was a bit slimy and overall flavourless. I wasn't keen on the texture of it at all and who knows maybe this pasta would have benefited by not being cooked that long (I did only cook it for 5 minutes though!).

The filling was plentiful and a light orange colour and a bit mushy but tasted really nice. It tasted like a well seasoned sausage mix with a hint of garlic to it and the flavours of that mix saved the otherwise boring pasta.

This is a high quality, tasty enough pasta dish. I wasn't so keen on the pasta part of it myself but it was nicely saved by a tasty, smoked sausage filling. Less cooking time would probably benefit this pasta!
