It also hit my spot because it claims it cooks in a minute. Just one whole minute.... Prosciutto crudo and cheese capalletti....well i was astonished. I did believe in the one minute claims because fresh pasta is pretty fast cooking, but what really blew me away was the flavour. It actually looks in the packet jus a tiny little smidge of filling amoung a big pas...more

Giovanni Rana Pasta: Filled Pasta That's Quick And Easy! (402 words)

I'd never heard of Giovanni Rana pasta before but in Sainsburys at the minute the range is only 99p, I love filled pasta so thought I'd give it a shot because I've been mega disappointed with other brands. The one I got was Rich Italian Beef Bolognese Tortelloni and it's absolutely delish. On the packet it says it uses thinner pasta so that you get more filling and that's true but even though the pasta is thinner than usual it's still got quite a strong and yummy flavour. The best thing is that this pasta cooks in just 1 minute, you have to boil a pan of water and then add the pasta and as soon as the water has started boiling again just set the ...  Read the complete review

Sometimes convenience is king. In our hectic lives there are always times when we could do with an extra five minutes and, for me, that time is often needed around lunchtime. With a pre-schooler in the house lunchtime can often be a stressed affair with his idea of lunch and mine rarely coinciding no matter how "strict" I am. One lunch that we both enjoy, however, is filled pasta. There are many "fresh" filled pastas available in the supermarkets these days and believe me when I say that they vary wildly in quality. My usual trusty Waitrose doesn't seem able to produce good filled pasta whereas cheap n cheerful Morrisons' offering is ...  Read the complete review

As a single person i tend to buy food that i can cook quickly and easily as well as divide into portions. Pasta always comes into this category and filled pasta is even better. I came across Giovanni Rana Filled pasta in my local Spar and it caught my eye as it was two for £3 in the range. Always love a bargain! I have to say i was a little sceptical because i have tried quite a few brands of filled pasta and am always disappointed by the lack of flavour. I opted for the Prosciutto crudo and cheese capalletti as ham and cheese is always a winner with me, and also bought the spinach and ricotta because i am a lover of spinach also. As a student I eat so much quick food its unbelievable and pasta is by far my favourite food. When I saw the Giovanni Pasta range advertised on tv I thought it would be far too expensive for a student on a tight budget and there is no way on earth that you can cook pasta in a minute... how wrong I was!!! I figured I had to do the weekly shop the other day so I went to Sainsburys and found out that Giovanni Rana was half price at £1 which was a shock for me anyway because I thought it was more expensive than £2 normally. The packaging is a see-thru rectangular container with ridges to make it easier to hold. It also shows a picture of Givanni Rana himself and ...  Read the complete review

Giovanni Rana Pasta: Pasta Perfect! (282 words)

Usually I am not one for easy cook, ready made food; being a student my food budget is limited and I find it hard to justify spending 99p(ish) on one meal when the same amount will buy me a big bag of pasta that will last me several. But, from time to time there is nothing better than a packet of Giovanni Rana Pasta. One great thing about it is that it is usually on offer; typically 2 for 1, meaning that a packet can cost about 99p depending on where abouts in the country you live. This makes it an easily justifiable treat. But which flavour to go for? The four available are Prosciutto Crudo & Cheese Cappelletti, Rich Italian Beef Bolognese Tortelloni, ...  Read the complete review
