Golden Wonder The Nation's Pasta Macaroni Cheese

I had never seen these until last week, and almost walked past thinking they were just new Pot Noodles. Then when I looked closer, I realised that they are actually new, and although they look like Pot Noodles, they are pasta in pots instead.

I paid £0.85 for one of these and bought "The Nations Pasta, Macaroni Cheese" variety. You can also buy spaghetti bolognese and spicy tomato flavours.

As with a Pot Noodle, you simply peel back the foil lid, add boiling water and leave for a few minutes (5) to allow it to cook. This is fantastically simple and a great way to have a hot lunch at work, in minutes.

So, i added the water, left it and then went back to see how it looked. I was actually quite surprised, the pasta looked great and the sauce was thick and creamy. It definitely looked more appetising than I had expected. When I tasted it. it was pretty good too, the sauce was really cheesy but didn't taste artificial and the pasta was just right, not too soft and not too hard. Loads better than I had expected it to be!

The nutritional info is on the back of the pot, so you can see what it contains, sadly, it isn't particularly healthy, but I suppose that is the same for most macaroni and cheese meals.

I will definitely buy this again, it was surprisingly tasty, the cheese sauce was creamy and cheesy and it went really well with a bread roll to make a quick and yummy lunch - these are a handy stand by to keep in the cupboard and create a hot snack in minutes.
