      Dissapointing meal

      My partner decided to try out this dish on a day when we both were too tired to cook! We had been out all day and just wanted something easy and something that tasted good!

      We went into my local Tesco express and my partner saw this new slow cooked steak ragu with parpardelle from Tesco finest foods. Personally i thought it was a bit pricey even for Tesco finest at £4.00 for a 400g box.

      The steak ragu is described as ' a full flavour ragu of tender Aberdeen Angus steak, slow cooked with free range egg pappardelle' (basically thick taglietelli) 'and hand finished with grated Pecorino'

      Due to us both being hungry i decided to cook it in the microwave. It takes about 5 minutes altogether in the microwave, depending on the wattage of your micrwave. Actually, it seems that this dish is not suppossed to be cooked in the oven at all as there are no guidlines for oven cooking.

      The description and picture of the food makes you think it will taste pretty good. It looks like there is quite alot of meat in it and plenty of the pasta. On the packaging it also states that there are 'Authentic Italian ingredients' and 'bronze cut pasta and Barolo wine'

      ~~~My opinion~~~
      Whilst this dish wasn't originally for me, i tried a little of my partners. When it came out of the microwave i must admit it did appear to look a bit stodgy; the pasta was really a bit too thick. My partner started eating it and didnt look too pleased. He said he didnt really like it very much. I decided to try some. It was stodgy; the flavour was ok, a little meaty/tomatoey; but actual meat content was some what lacking. It also came out slightly too dry which admittedly was possibly due to my cooking, although i did stick to the microwave guidelines. All in all neither of us were very impressed and to be honest we would not buy this meal again.
      ~~~Other information/Allergies~~~

      This meal has a whopping 605 kcals in it, so not good for dieters!

      It contins egg, wheat, gluten and milk. Whilst there are no nuts in the product, it cannot be guarnteed to be nut free.

      There are no artificial flavours, preservatives, colours or hydrogenated fats.

      Should you wish to do so you will need to freeze this product on the day of purchase. Something worth mentioning is that if you do freeze it, it must be eaten within one month.

      I am giving this meal only 2 stars out of the 5 possible. I dont think it's good value and i would have expected more from a 'finest' range.
