Advantages: Cools specif parts of your computer
Disadvantages: Makes alot of noise, Not much airflow
Introduction
##########
A friend of mine had this to cool his memory, but then later decided to purchase some better memory. He gave me this to see if I could make some use of it. I didn't really require and additional motherboard cooling but thought id still give this a try. So here is my review.
The Fan
#######
It's a really nice 10cm fan which is designed to be mounted wherever you want additional cooling. For example my friend used it to cool his memory as this memory was cheap and got very hot under certain intensive situations.
It is powered by the motherboard CPU fan (heatsink) you just simply split the power from it.
The Installation
############
Pretty simple - just take out the power from your heatsink and use the splitter provided and connect the power supply to the fan. It's that simple. There are no fancy switches or inverts to deal with here...just this simple connection.
You are provided with 2 Velcro pads to mount the fan inside your case. I mounted mine to the side of the heatsink - so ideally the hot air blowing off the CPU will be blown to the side away.
The Results
##########
The fan is really loud, and you know its there. The cooling is not that great - there is not much airflow here for the amount of noise it gives off. It didn't make any difference to the CPU temperature.
Summary: noisey, and low airflow amount.
