Fujitsu Siemens Mobidock ... into full-blown desktop systems simply by slotting them into the new MobiDock with PCI technology.

The MobiDock notes the relevant configuration as it has its own CMOS memory. If an IDE hard disk (connected directly to the PCI bus) is installed in the MobiDock, you can of course boot from this. This particularly makes sense when the MobiDock is integrated into the network and has to be booted with a special configuration. The built-in hard disk can be password-protected against unauthorized access attempts. A lockable sliding panel made of Plexiglas also prevents access to the drives. When there is a notebook in the MobiDock, a locking mechanism prevents it being removed without permission. Plug & Play under Windows '95 is implemented as in the desktop with PCI technology. You plug an expansion card into the MobiDock, start the docked notebook and Windows '95 starts straight away with the configuration. Should you wish to remove the notebook from the MobiDock during operation, this is possible thanks to the "warm docking" (in standby mode) or "hot docking" (in normal mode) functions. You simply press the "Eject" button on the MobiDock and the notebook is automatically released.
