A good little light that clips on with ease.

I'm often using the laptop in bed at night. I find the main light in the bedroom too bright and it disturbs my partner who works 9-5. Working shifts means I'm not always tired when I get home from work and often like to do a little bit of catching up on the internet. Sitting in the dark with the glare of the computer screen is not a pleasant way to work and strains my eyes! As a little present my boyfriend bought me this clip on light after hearing me moan too many times about not being able to see the keyboard! He only paid £4.99 from Wilkinson's and we think that it is money well spent.

      The product

The device is really light and contains one LED bulb that is connected to a clip for you to attach to your lap top or note book. You can attach the clip to either side of your lap top or even have it on the top. The clip is fairly robust and grips the frame of the laptop firmly which prevents it dropping off, the grip will stretch to 1.6 cm so fits many different makes and models. The edges or the clip are rubberised so it will not damage the laptop or scratch it. The angle of the light is for you to decide as it moves 360 degrees and you can twist it to suit your needs. I have mine angled so that it lights up the key board.

As the name suggests the light works via USB connection, this is fantastic as it doesn't need batteries! There is a 25cm lead from the light that connects to the USB port. I find the lead longer than necessary and so always have the light positioned on the opposite side to the USB ports. This way most of the cable is in use and stretched across the back of the laptop preventing it getting caught and pulled out.

The LED bulb throws out quite a lot of light for such a small device and serves its purpose well; lighting up the key board and a small area surrounding the lap top. The device could also be used as a light for webcam use or Skype.

Overall, I am really happy with my product. I would prefer an on/off switch to control the light rather than having to unplug it; nevertheless it is a good little item that we use regularly. It comes with a year warranty for added peace of mind.

      Cheap and affordable

One of the problems I have with using my laptop in bed is that first and foremost using the main light disturbs my other half and typing in the dark strains my eyes. The light from my laptop screen lights the pad up to some degree but I have always been on the look out for some form of usb light and came across this device whilst searching on dooyoo. It is made my Hypertec and is their low budget clip on usb light.

This is a very simple and very effective device. It requires no hardware and is usable straight from the box. Simply, plug the usb cable into one of the ports on your laptop device and stretch the clip round to the side of your laptop screen. The wire is around 25cm long and has a flexible cord which is more than enough for your needs. In fact it is often too much and you are left with excess wire which can dangle about the back of your laptop. I have forgot it was there once or twice and put my arm through it or kicked it with my feet.

The light clips on the side via a small box clip. It's a solid clip that although has a tight grip does not impact on your laptop and wont damage it but nevertheless it stays firmly in place.

The light clips to the top of this and can be rotated on its axis to ensure you have it in the right direction. It's a small tight little light with a strong bulb. It is judged at just the right powers, its not too powerful that it impedes the screen and causes much glare but it is light enough to suit your needs.

All in all this is an ideal product for your lighting needs on your laptop and costing around £6.99 is an ideal choice in price and value.
