Advantages: Good lap table...for everything but laptops..

Disadvantages: Too small..Cheaply made..

There are so many products around these days stating to be laptop tables all of which vary in price from as little as a couple of quid to posh glass and wooden tables that extend up to your lap from the floor for over £50. The half broken laptop I inherited off my mum last year used to get too hot on my legs and I'd feel like it was burning my skin, so I was looking around for something to stop this from happening, I tried a plastic folder which ended up starting to melt and resorted to a cardboard folder which ended up bending. So I hunted around online for a product I never knew existed, and when I found this on Amazon at a bargain price I bought it instantly.

The Product:

It's stated as a laptop cushion on Amazon but it can be used for a number of tasks. The laptop table just reminds me of the lap trays you have for eating food on your knee, inside is a cheap "cushion" full of little polystyrene beans, which is attached to a wooden board. It really is a basic cheap product. The top of the tray is hardened plastic which is quite durable, and the other accessories of the table are the adjustable LED light, cup holder and pen holder.

The light is a little adjustable LED which is like a little metal snake you can change to an angle to suit you, it requires 3x AA batteries which are inserted underneath the laptop tray, it's perfect for me as it means I can read when I'm in bed, I can play my original Gameboy (Yes I still play Old Skool games consoles) and it's great for when I'm drawing as it means I'm getting the perfect light and can get better results.

The cup holder is big enough to fit a decent sized glass in it, but if your wanting it to hold your cup of tea then it isn't going to happen, you will have to use an ordinary table for that. It's great for kids to keep their drinks in, or it's good for holding things like your mouse, or for me I like to put my little bits of stationary in it whilst I'm drawing or put sweets in it! ha-ha! The pen holder does what it says on the box, it holds a pen there isn't much more I can say about it.

The table is only really suitable for smaller laptops and netbooks, as the laptop I had when I first purchased the cushion covered up the pen holder and most of the cup holder. My little netbook fits on it nicely but I don't use it for that purpose anymore. There are a lot of versions of this product, the best thing you can do is shop around, and I wish I'd done the same. At just over £6 the table is a real bargain, which was the deciding factor for me but If I was looking for one now, I'd shop around and try and find something better.

Overall:

My mum has been suffering with an overheating laptop on her knee the past couple of months with her new laptop and she has invested in a JML Laptop table which cost her £20 from Asda. It's a lot larger than the one I bought from Amazon, however it's still not amazing quality. The best thing to do is shop around for a better product, or better still shop around for a usb fan which attaches to your laptop keeping it cool, as this is the reason most people buy the laptop tables, as they get too hot. That was the reason for me purchasing the laptop table but it was a waste of money for me, I just use it now for reading on and drawing. It's the perfect size for my little Dotty Netbook but I rarely use it for that.

A great idea for a product but it's poorly executed and cheaply made.

Summary: Shop around.
