Lindy Compressed Air Cleaner
by Seven17
@ About, Power, Cleaning ability @
I bought this compressed air because I needed to clean in-between grooves and small areas where dirt builds up and I have used it mainly for my computer keyboard too. It is somewhat powerful but not great. Getting to the more stuck on dirt and debris is difficult because this wont get it off, ... its more designed for loose dirt and dust build up rather than stuck on things. Getting dust off is easy and you don't need to spray for more than a second or two to blast the dirt away. The can comes with a little screw in plastic pipe, which can make it easier to get into the harder places to reach, and this really helps when getting into the grooves of a keyboard.
The stalk is solid and quite durable when you drop it or try to squeeze it with your fingers, but will bend easily. You can just twist or push the plastic tubing up or down which is really annoying when it accidentally gets bent inside a small area. The can itself is made from very thick metal, it cant be depressed or dented unless you throw it very hard onto the floor and I have never experienced any problems with jamming or getting stuck with a dirt build up in the tube.
The air blasts out a reasonable of power and is enough to move a small post it note across a table if you want to waste the expensive air inside, id recommend conserving the air at £12 - £15 per can. The can will last for months if you just clean a standard QWERTY keyboard once every week and it takes seconds to use, just remember to shake it up well before use. This is suitable for laptops because there is not enough power to break anything underneath the keys and so long as you are careful not to jam the plastic pipe under keys it wont break the clips holding them in place.
@ Overall @
This can of air is quite expensive (£15) for what is basically a metal container of what's already around you and it seems a bit of a rip off for what you get. This stuff is everywhere though I see it in many good retailers but its not actually any good, its not that powerful so not recommended. Why not just use something else like folded paper? Lindy Wet Wipes
by danny691
I wouldn't say I am OCD when it comes to cleanliness, but I like to keep on top of bacteria and have a working environment that both looks and feels clean. Computer equipment can often be neglected with regards to cleaning, it also holds some real breeding grounds when it comes to germs. If there a few people in your household using the ... same mouse and the same keyboard then such things can get forgotten about and left for someone else to do. Germs can be left on the keyboard, such as if you forget to wash your hands after using the bathroom, or coughing at the desk can spread germs also.
We have established that computer accessories can harbor bacteria and so giving your keyboard a thorough clean now and again is quite important. I always like to keep some of these Lindy Wet Wipes to hand for an occassional wipe down of the keyboard and mouse. These wet wipes are a general use wet wipe and can be used around the house and not just at the computer desk.
The packaging is quite simple, coming in a cylindrical container with a typical flip lid to access the wipes which are dispensed through a narrow space at the top of the container. The label is also quite basic, offering an image of a computer screen to give you an idea of how the wipes can be used, and the Lindy branding and product name also present.
The wipes themselves are of a reasonable size, but there thickness isn't anything to get excited about. I don't find myself putting my fingers through the wipes whilst using them, but they could be a little thicker and stronger. The container houses 100 wipes and costs around £4, so they are not cheap by any means. I think the price is a little on the high side, but this is to be expected. The wipes are not 'too' moist, but they do allow me to tackle stubborn marks on the laptop or PC screen and the end result is always to a high standard. As the wipes are not dripping wet they give me the confidence to use them on all my computer essentials such as mouse and keyboard, as I know they are not going to damage the internals. These wipes produce their best results on monitors, though, as they leave a sparkly clean and smear-free finish.
I much prefer the Lindy Wet Wipes than using a duster or damp cloth to clean my monitor with. Their versatility stretches to the entire laptop housing and also my workspace (desktop, lamp, printer). Their simplicity lends itself well to my lazy nature, and the end result is a clean workstation that is free from potentially harmful bacteria.
Although there isn't a great deal to say about a wet wipe I feel there are a number of positives to take from the purchase of the Lindy Wet Wipes. Firstly, I will definately continue to use these wipes due to their simple use and adequate dampness. Secondly i think the packaging is well designed, with a sealed lid which prevents unused wipes from drying out. Finally I find that the end results are satisfying and make the purchase of the Lindy Wet Wipes a must, especially for those sharing desks either at home or work. Read the complete review |

Lindy Cleaning Tissues
by chrisandmark
With three laptops and two PCs in the house, keeping on top of the cleaning of them is a must. It's just plain silly to expect the kids (and I include Mark in the broad 'kids' description) to keep their own stuff clean so it's usually down to me, I really hate the job of computer cleaning as you have to be so careful so will happily ... spend money on anything that might make my life easier. I can't remember how I came across these Lindy Cleaning Tissues, I know I didn't buy them so can only assume they came from my bro-in-law who often passes on computer products he's been given through his IT job that he can't (or doesn't want to) use himself.
Umm... they're a bit of a waste of time. An expensive waste of time at that.
They are, as the name would suggest, tissues and not wet wipes. I've used the Lindy wet wipes in the past and been happy with them, but these tissues act more to buff your screen to a shiny finish rather than actually cleaning it. I tend to keep my own laptop as clean as possible so for a quick spruce up these are fine, but when Alice (as the most obvious example) brings me her Dorito-encrusted laptop the tissues are useless unless used in conjunction with a cleaning spray. Which means I might as well have used the wet wipes in the first place!
You get 25 tissues in a pack, they're slightly thicker than facial tissues but in all honesty there isn't much in it. The size of them is good as I can get a proper hold on the tissue while cleaning, I think personally that they could be a bit thicker as this would definitely help with the cleaning process but then again there really is only so much a dry wipe can do when it comes to dirty computers!
When used without any spray or cleaning solution they don't help with removing actual particles of dirt, I find the best way to use these tissues is when your screen is smeared with fingerprints as with a brief amount of rubbing the result will usually be a sparkling clean screen - the same can be said for photograph frames, which is how I intend to use up my remaining few tissues.
One thing I have noticed since I started using the tissues is that I have to exert more pressure than is probably healthy on the laptop screens. As someone who once put a thumb through a netbook screen (yes, really) I worry about having to rub quite so hard as I need to while using these. On the plus side, once you have the knack of using these dry tissues you'll be surprised at how smear-free and clean they leave your computer/laptop screen. They don't leave any lint or cotton-ey residue on the glass, but then neither do the Lindy wet wipes and they provide a much more effective clean.
The price of these things is an absolute joke. As I mentioned, I didn't actually buy this pack but thought they'd cost a couple of quid at the most - not so, the actual cost is more like a fiver which is very expensive for what they are considering you also need to purchase some sort of computer cleaning spray to do the job properly.
