Advantages: Keeps laptop very nice and clean, and stops it from getting scratched.
Disadvantages: Quite expensive
My last Apple laptop got covered in dents, scratches and dirt, which also got under the keyboard and was very hard to clean out. So, when I purchased my Macbook, I decided to buy some protection for it. After searching around for a bit, I found the Marware Protection Pack Plus on Amazon for about £20, and although it cost quite a lot, I don't regret buying it.
The pack contains:
* Soft microfibre Keyboard cover for protecting and cleaning
* Soft cushioned handrest that protects against interior surface scratches
* Microfibre laptop sleeve that protects against exterior surface scratches.
The handrest sticks onto the inside of the Macbook, where the trackpad is (in front of the keyboard), and it's nice and soft, which makes it more comftorable for leaning your hands on the laptop while you're typing. It stops the surface from becoming scratched or dirty.
The microfibre keyboard cover sits ontop of the keyboard when you're not using it. I have found that it stops dirt from the keys from getting onto the screen when the laptop is closed. It's also very useful for cleaning the screen, which inevitably gets dirt on it every now and then.
The microfibre sleeve is also very useful. The Macbook fits nicely into it when closed, and whenever i'm taking my laptop anywhere with me, I'm sure to put it in the sleeve. It stops the casing of the Macbook from getting scratched or dirty, and just makes me feel safer carrying it around. The only problem i have with it is that I have a premanent plastic case on my laptop to protect it, so it's hard to fit te laptop into the sleeve, but still not impossible.
I would recommend that you buy a pack like this to protect your laptop and keep it clean. However, £20 is probably a little bit too much to spend, so try to get it cheaper ;)
Summary: You should definitely buy one of these for a new Macbook, just try to get it as cheap as possible.

- 28/07/09 Yeh I would agree, but I spent about £15 on the permanent plastic casing, and another £5 on protection for the kayboard, and in my opinion those are a lot more protective than this pack.
I wouldn't have chosen not to spend the £20 on this pack, but it would've just been better if i got it cheaper :) |

- 28/07/09 I would say £20 is a fair price to save your mac from getting ruined :) |
