Advantages: Protects your palm device
Disadvantages: none it does a great job
I purchased my Palm carry case with my Palm Tungsten and in doing so made a slight saving. To purchase one of thee snazzy cases is going to set you back around £20, they are currently £18.99 at Amazon.co.uk.
The case is made of Aluminium and has a hard plastic interior. It is a hinged unit with an additional small long rectangular arm attached to the hinged area of the unit. This arm is used to attach your Palm unit to the case in a simple slide on motion. This is facilitated by the grove located at the side of the Palm, which neatly houses the rectangular arm.
Your Palm is now connected to the case and is moveable as in the pages of a book. This allows you to easily turn it of an on and reset it should the necessity arise. Fitted to the case the front of your Palm is accessible as per usual. A slot with a soft plastic cover is located at the top of the casing; this part allows the insertion and removal of your SD card. On the left portion of the inside of the casing are two plastic slots whereby you can store additional SD cards. There is also a small area above this to identify the contents of the card inserted into the associated slot.
Apart from that the outside of the case is brushed Aluminium with the Palm Tungsten logo on the front face. There is a small plastic clip on one of the mating faces, which allows the case to be clicked shut. I have used this as my primary protection for my Palm, which I use frequently at work. I have dropped it several times and as yet there has been no damage to my Palm. There is a slight dent now on the case, but being soft Aluminium and being a protective case you'd expect that after being dropped a few times.
The case with the encompassed Palm will fit into your pocket snugly, but not leave much room for anything else, when loaded with the Palm it is probably just a fraction too heavy for a shirt pocket, but does fit in this pocket none the less. Once you've coughed up a hundred or so quid for your knacky Palm you don't want to rely on a plastic covering to protect your screen. It will stop scratches but a nasty knock it is not going to protect against.
I think £20 or so is a pretty good investment for something I have found to be excellent at its job, it also has the advantage of looking pretty cool. One other advantage is that should your palm be displaying some private info on a desk where you are using it, thee is no need now to turn it off, just flip the case shut and your info will be hidden. All in all a pretty good deal I'd say. 5 stars in all departments.
Summary: A superb addition to your Pal accessories
