just bought and upgraded my PC, abandoning AMD and moving to Intel's Core i7 CPU. As a result, I wanted to buy a heatsink that would do the job and offer me overclocking abilities in the future. Being a geek it was a must to abandon the standard heatsink and opt for something more jazzy. Having already owned a Coolermaster PSU and finding it very reliable/quiet and also just purchasing a Coolermaster case, I thought i'd stick with a known quantity and go for this.
First thing to say it this heatsink is enormous, so if you are considering it make sure you have a good sized case. Luckily for me i have a Coolermaster Tower case (HAF 932) but the V8 still dominates it. That can only be a good thing though, with plenty of vents and pipes and all that other goodness, the heat from the CPU will be easily distributed and cooled. The V8 has attachments for almost all motherboard/CPU combinations, including (most importantly) the brackets for the Core i7. Being so huge though it does need screwing down on the back of the motherboard, as well as the front, so make sure you do that before you put it in the case (dont make the mistake i did and have to take everything out again!).
The heatsink comes with two different thermal compounds, both made by Coolermaster. Which is a bonus.
It seems to ooze qaulity and pride in itself. Theres an attachement to add to the back of your case for easy adjusment of the fan speed, as well as the connectors for the motherboard.
Well recommended and worth every penny as far as I can see.
