Advantages: Well priced at new, very good processor

Disadvantages: AGP port is now a bit outdated

This computer has proven to be a real gem. I bought it five years ago now and it's still holding it's own very well. I bought it primarily as a gaming machine as at the time my desktop PC was starting to clunk and grind and I had a new game that I wanted to play, the name of which escapes me now. At the time it was neither groundbreaking nor out of date, it was actually a bit of both, fairly good middle of the line.

The AMD 64 chip packed a punch and let it run most games with good speed, and still does even by today's standard, perhaps due to games now being a bit more friendly towards a 64 bit architecture. I'm not sure on the technicalities but for an old chip it still handles well.

I've since upgraded to 1.5gb of RAM which was both affordable and effective, and personally I think from a modern gamers point of view, essential as most big names now require a gigabyte as standard. The hard disk drive still holds itself ok, it was big in the day and while small now is quite adequate for most uses.

I can't give an honest review of the included graphics card as I never used it, it was reasonable at the time but I had a better AGP card from my previous machine, and have since upgraded again.The AGP slot for graphics is proving a limiting factor these days as PCI Express has proven to be the new standard and something this machine just doesn't have - still that's technology for you and not something that can really be held as a fault.

Summary: Still worth a buy today if you can find it cheap
