I am someone who uses my desktop computer a lot (as does my wife) and so when my previous PC burned out after about 4 years it was time for me to pick up a new base unit (everything else was fine so no need to spend more money when I don't need to) but was this what I had hoped for?
This base unit is a very nice looking piece of kit, with a high gloss black front and brown plastic around the dvd drive and expansion port the unit manages to look very classic. The top of the unit has a rubber section towards the front which is excellent for being able to put things that you wish to have on a non slip surface (I would not recommend drinks just incase they do spill).
The unit has a 2GB ram which allows you to use multiple programmes at a faster rate than previously able to be experienced. This is also able to be easily expanded to 4GB ram which will allow for smoother operation and won't cost too much to do.
The PC comes pre-loaded with Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium which means it is up to date and runs the most modern software on the market.
This is a PC unit that comes with a processor designed to operate the newer software (which requires a faster processing speed) on the market. The Intel® Pentium Dual Core E5700 processor which runs at 2.7GHz allows you to run games smoothly and at speed without placing too much pressure on a single processor as we used to with the older style PC's.
The PC is a quiet (though not silent) running one which means that you can be using it whilst your partner watches TV without this causing them to become annoyed by excess noise.
The base unit itself comes with a good amount of storage thanks to a pre-installed 1TB hard drive so you can easily and quickly save your memories in the form of photos, music, videos and more with confidence.
USB ports are plentiful on this unit as it comes with 4 at the rear and 2 at the front so that you can easily plug in your mouse, keyboards, printers, digital cameras, IPod, etc.
The front of the PC has a memory card reader which makes transferring your photos even easier than ever before as you simply plug in your card (for me this is an SD card) and the computer will recognise this and offer you options for what to do with this.
This comes with a DVD re-writer so that you can quickly and easiy burn your files, photos, videos, etc to disc and have this security of backing up your information. The DVD re-writer drive means you can also watch your DVD's on your PC or play your music CD's.
The PC is good value for money with all of these great features coming for under £400 from a name which is well known and trusted in the marketplace.
Simple and quick internet navigation thanks to the high speed processor and RAM rate (this is dependant on your broadband connection still but the PC will allow for fast running).
The base unit also comes with its own keyboard and mouse so that you only need to have a monitor and that is you ready to go.
The graphics on this PC are integrated so are not going to cope with too much in the modern market when it comes to the games available. This is something you can always upgrade if you wish to but if you are just looking for a PC to run your office software, DVD's, photos and videos on then this is not going to be a problem for you.
Overall this is a great PC base unit that I would highly recommend for those looking for a stylish and smooth running computer that will run your modern office softwares and allow you to quickly and easily browse around the internet. The great price makes this a very attractive offer but if you are looking for something to use to do gaming then you will need to factor in the costs for upgrading to a stand alone graphics card and maybe even a RAM upgrade (this would still not cost too much but may make it less of a viable option when compared to others available).
