Advantages: Nothing to do with microsoft

Disadvantages: None as yet

I bought my 24" imac in december 2008 its the 2.8 ghz core 2 duo with ati radeon hd 2600 pro graphics card 320 gb hard drive , 2 gb of ram which I have upgraded to 4 gb soon after. After 1 month of usage everything was running smoothly, quickly (very quickly ) and most importantly almost silently. Then one day the fan came on and stayed on, upto this point I didn't realise the imac had any fans at all as all that could be heard was a very quite humming which I thought was the power supply. Any way after some investigating and installing of 3rd party software I discovered that the hard drive temp sensor was reading 72 degrees celcius and was keeping the fan at 4000 rpm constantly even when turning on the imac in the morning (stone cold). Apple to there credit repaired it asap f.o.c but I did have to take it to a repair centre and do a time machine backup prior to the repair. The temp sensor was replaced. At the time I was thinking 1 month old what else is going to go wrong. But having had it back it has now been running perfectly for nearly 5 months now and it is back to its almost inaudiable self. Prior to purchasing my imac I have always owned pc's and had no end of trouble with windows operating system over the years. How stupid have I been, All the programes you will ever need come preinstalled with the osx operating system and once you get used to the higher security of the os the imac rips through tasks and multitasks with ease. I even have windows running in virtualisation and it has never crashed once.
Over all the imac was well worth the couple of hundred pounds more than a similar specced pc.

Summary: Brilliant all in one computer
