Advantages: Very stylish, great operating system and umbelivable performance!

Disadvantages: It is expensive and there is a lack of games available for it.

I have had this wonderful Apple iMac now since Christmas and it replaced my rather ordinary Windows computer. I initially felt worried that it would be too much of a difference between the two operating systems. But within a week I found myself in a good position with it and I was able to carry out all of the functions that I wanted. I felt that switching to an Apple iMac like this would be a great move and something different. I bought this directly from the official Apple store online for about £1200 and am so glad I did! It really is an absolutely brilliant computer and I could not recommend it more! You can even try it out at a local computer store such as at PC world and see the umbelivable performance for yourself.

The fist major advantage of this computer is its performance, the processor (Core 2 Duo 2.8Ghz) is brilliant for carrying out all of your day to day needs and more. It really does make the whole experience with your computer so much smoother and easier. The 2GB of ram I found to be sufficient to handle even the most of demanding of applications such as Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver. It is worth noting that the 24'' screen allows 2 or 3 webpages to be opened on the same screen! This is great when price comparing or just watching multiple video's!

The fact that this Apple offers Microsoft Office gave me no real reason not to switch to a computer with a generally more sophisticated operating system. It is much more personal to use and I found there to be a much greater interaction between you and the computer itself. Everything within the operating system is really stylish and looks very trendy. It is very arty and I found it both fantastic and enjoyable to use. With features such as spotlight that are included it make's every task so much easier to perform. I really liked the fact that this iMac had wireless and it performed really well. I noticed that the speed really was fast which is just what you want from a wireless adaptor.

The screen is absolutely gorgeous and is beautiful to look at, which is ideal for doing all sorts of things from looking at photo's to browsing the web. The resolutioon is of high definition qualities so even watching DVD's is an absolute privelage on this machine. I love the way that the video camera in the top of the screen is as though it is dissolved into the casing. I found that the video quality is very good and it is brilliant for video conferances over the internet with friends and families. There is software called 'iChat' which makes video conferences easy!

One of my favourite things about a mac like this is that whenever you plug anything into it such as a printer or a camera there is no need to install any drivers, it just works right out of the box. I remember with my old computer it was always a big hassle to find the correct driver but with an Apple it is no longer an issue! One critisism that I have of this iMac is that despite offering exceptional performance and having very impressive specs the gaming capabilites are not very good. There is a very limited game selection that is available when compared with PCs and considering the price that you pay I found it to be a downful. But never the less this really is a fantastic computer and should not be overlooked because of that.

The bootloading time is phenominal taking even less than a minute to fully load up making it really great for a quick search! I understand that this is an expensive computer and there are cheaper alternatives but I cannot tell you how geat this will look on your desk. The 24'' screen is much bigger than you would expect when you see it in the flesh. Don't forget that this iMac is literally just the monitor. There is no pc tower which means that it takes less space on your desk. The disk driver is slot loading which is a really cool feature that makes it look as though your computer is eating the disks! The disk drive operates at a high speed and can play DVD perfectly.

Apple have developed this computer to be much more recyclable featuring a sleek looking, aluminium rim. So when you buy this computer you get the feeling that you are doing your bit to protect the enviroment and become that bit greener. This iMac is ideal for your mutlimedia needs and has the incredible 'iLife' included which I find to be unparrallel. It is just so great for organising your music by iTunes to your photo's by iPhoto. The iMovie application makes it possibleto create very professional looking video's that can once finished shared with friends at the click of a button.And what is best about it is that with this iMac I have found that it runs it like an absolute dream, really quick which is superb!

When I bought this iMac and opened it from the box I first noticed the keyboard and the mouse that it came with. The keyboard is very thin and the buttons are really smooth. It also has two usb ports at the side of the keyboard which means that whilst use lose a usb port plugging it in, you gain two more as a result! The mouse features the signature Apple one click feature which I find to be really easy to use. The scroll wheel is really small but it just feels so good to use. It also comes with a remote which is the perfect companion to your multimedia. I cannot tell you how great it is to view all of your multimedia on a beautiful 24'' and then control it with a very attractive functional Apple remote.

There is a piece of software which is known as 'Boot camp' that is available for free for your iMac. It allows you to boot up Windows Vista/ XP etc on top of the exisiting OSX Leopard software. I loved this because it gives me assurance with work that if anything were to be incompatable I could simply boot up XP instead. It is also worth mentioning that the performance in XP or Vista was even faster than my old computer! The whole speed of this machine is just simply brilliant.

In conclusion, I have found this computer to be absolutely brilliant. I love the operating system and trust me it is easy to get use to. The fact that it can run windows XP and windows vista also is a brilliant feature. The performance of this computer does come at a price yes but I think it is well worth it and I am so glad I did get it over another PC. The harddrive of 320GB is more than enough I found to store all of your multimedia content and it can relatively cheaply be upgraded with an external harddrive. The new Radeon HD graphics card featured in this model makes it ideal for image editing and the like. If you are really into your multimedia this is the computer for you and I cannot recommend it anymore. I found it to be very reliable, great fun to use and the inbuilt bluetooth is a useful feature for connecting with modern printers.
