Advantages: I'd be here all day if I listed them
Disadvantages: Er, none as yet!
I converted from a lifetime of Windows PCs to my first Apple in February of this year. I've heard nothing but good things about them and figured that I'd take a gamble and see what all the fuss was about. Plus, space is limited in my home 'office' so the all-in-one design was appealing.
So, after nearly 4 months living with my mac I'm finding it difficult to understand how I ever survived before without one! It's a really, really weird thing - even mundane tasks like surfing the internet, instant messaging and writing email feels so much 'nicer' on a mac. Yeah, I know, that's a lame description but it's really difficult to put things into words - it's more of a feeling thing. Firstly, the machine looks stunning. The big glossy screen surrounded by its aluminium housing just smacks of quality. I've owned several PCs over the years and I've never spent so much time just looking at the things, admiring their lines and their feel. Yep, it sounds wrong but buy one and you'll get what I mean.
As far as the software goes, it just works. Clearly Apple have invested a ridiculous amount of time just thinking about how things should work. Everything seems so simple and yet the software is as complex as comparative Windows programs. The whole experience is just really nice!
If more Windows users got to experience Apple hardware I am convinced that there would be a mass exodus of people converting. You spend a lot of your waking hours using a PC - you owe it to yourself to make the experience as nice as possible. Take the plunge. You won't regret it.
