Advantages: Stylish, big screen, quiet!
Disadvantages: Expensive
Not that you'd expect them to last forever I now realise that I've gone through two computers in the last few years, no mean feat and at quite an expense. With technology moving on so fast getting a new computer is a pleasure despite the finincial pain. With the advent of the blue screen of death and a host of other problems with my last computer it was time for something new.
Off to PC world with the hopes that in the two years since I last bought a tower that they'd have come down in price and size. A swift walk about and there was the Apple iMac, looking so cool and sleek that we didn't get away and we forgot about our budget. We bought it (On a 0% 12 month pay later option!)
Extraordinarily easy to set up we were up and running in 10 minutes. No tower, the whole package consists of the large and stylish monitor, the small keyboard and a mouse.
First thing I noticed was the silence....ahhhh bliss! The last computer tower that I had made this incredible whirring noise (I'd guess it was the fan) and it was so intrusive so with this (as with many computers I'm sure) silence is golden.
The style is sleek and stylish. Chrome, black and white, litttle detail or fussiness. The picture quality is great on the large flat screen monitor. Comes with a host of programmes for your pictures and music, I'm still investigating the many possibilities.
At a little less that £1000 I was disappointed that we had to buy iWork 09 in order to do any documents, that's just plain mean.
All in all, so far so good. The design is great, the quality seems to be as you'd expect from Apple, you could easily lose a morning invstigating the programmes that are installed.
Summary: Super style imac
