Advantages: It still works!
Disadvantages: Slightly outdated so slow with new software and loading USB/CD
I bought this computer 9 years ago, and it still works perfectly. You can get these used off eBay for peanuts. if you have the chance to get one dirt cheap, then get one, it's a good purchase. I set it up myself at home, and from what I remember it was very easy and simple.
The connections at the back are clearly labelled, and for more modern peripherals, there are 4 USB ports, two at the back and two at the front with a cover. All connections to the screen, keyboard and mouse are perfect and the speakers run off the same cable.
I have noticed it does crash a few times and it normally takes ages to sort itself out, but if you slowly open program's one by one, and be careful not to overload it, this isn't an issue. It comes with a standard small ram of no more than 256MB but can be upgraded, unfortunately it cannot take more than 512MB so don't waste your money on more gigs of ram.
I have this PC upstairs in the bedroom where it gets very hot and humid in the summer, and sometimes it is left overnight to download things, and it copes very well. The original fan that came with this cools it down quickly and quietly.
The downside though is that this is a bit of a faff to clean. At the front, the piece of plastic with the logo on is actually a disc holder and that has to be cleaned, at the back there's a ton of holes and corners, plus at the front, the covers come off the front face of the PC for expansion of another floppy drive or CD burner. These collect dust very fast and need cleaning every few weeks.
The running is smooth, it makes a very funny "bloop" noise on start up, quite a strange noise for a PC to make, but after that it's quiet and the noisiest thing is the fan, which isn't that bad. It's also fast upon start up, to get to the log in screen which takes about 45 seconds. Not bad for a 9 year old PC.
It is somewhat fast, but not great. Loading CD's and USB data can take quite some time but loading games and software is fast for the age of the PC.
Overall it's a bargain PC that runs as well as it did nine years ago, so long as you keep the Hard drive clean and use it carefully, it will stay that way. Its been a fantastic companion in my house and I have no intention of getting rid in the near future. If you can get one online used for not much money, then I strongly recommend you get one.
Summary: Brilliant computer, buy them used for not much on the web nowadays
