When I first bought this computer which was years ago it was an average computer able to be used as a gaming computer. But it can't compare to computers nowadays. Even when this computer was in it's prime it frequently froze and lagged. The processor is alright but a dual core would make it better. Most computer nowadays use at least 4gb ram and a quad core processor so it will be a lot slower than most. Also do not even try recent games on this computer it will mess it up and will probably lag followed by freezing then it will shut down (personal experience). The best option would probably be to buy a newer model computer from 2010 if you're on a budget. You also have to have speakers if you want to be able to hear anything. This computer comes with Windows XP Professional and Office Works 2003. So if you only have around $50 you might consider this if you're a student on a budget. Upgrading this computer is another thing you could do, but it would cost another $50 - $200 to make it be able to stand up to computers nowadays. That would be useless though because it would be smarter to just buy a up to date laptop for around $200 - $300. But it's still a good computer even with all these negative things. It can even handle Itunes (slowly but still does the job) if that's all you want it for.
Some good stuff about this computer-
Comes with Window XP pro and Office works 03
Can be a cheap entertainment system/DVD player
Comes with a lot of parts that can be scrapped to make a better computer
It does download surprisingly fast for being years old
Some bad stuff about this computer-
Can't play anything that has come out recently
The Office Works is old and would probably be smarter to go with 07 for cheapness
Videos will lag and buffer for a long time
Takes a few minutes sometimes to open Firefox
This pc has been excellent - I bought it 3 years ago and have not had any real trouble with it. The dell website was really easy to use to customise your requirements although watch out for the hidden costs of buying software such as Word etc which is not included in the original price online. The pc has all the features you would expect of a budget pc but it provides sufficient memory to store thousands of songs and photos as well as deal with day-to-day activities.
The pc tower is still one of the larger ones but looks ok. The flatscreen monitor is good although I would have bought a 17" if I had my time again.
One problem I did have with this pc was that the USB ports stopped working all of a sudden and I could only use USB devices that I had already plugged into the pc before this happened. I think a virus has caused this but there doesn't appear to be any way of sorting it out.
This is an above average budget desktop system that is fully customizable and comes included with a 17" CRT monitor.

The new Dimension 3000 has replaced th Dimension 2400. With all of Dell's budget systems look out for special offers at the time as prices and specifications change on a weekly basis. We paid around £400 for this computer.
I have never had to contact customer services with this computer because it hasnt broken down so cannot comment on service.
Ease of set up
Very easy to set up and install. Instruction manual is geat with picture diagrams which really help.
Mostly good. A few times it has needed rebooting fr no apparant reason but other than that its been fine. We do only use this computer for basic functions though such as internet, Microsoft word, powerpoint etc. Prehaps if you needed it for more than that it might not be so good.
A great value for money PC. More than suitable for basic tasks. Would recommend for students, people getting their first PC etc. Watch out for price and buy when on offer.
