Well, having just demoted my trusty XPS T-700 to 'server' status after 2 1/2 years of service, it's time to look back at how it performed and how it helped me to upgrade to a newer box (AMD XP-1900+). I have owned and used a Dell Dimension XPS T500 for about a year and a half now and I have been impressed by the whole Dell ownership experience. From before I bought the system, I was very impressed straight away. Looking through magazine adverts, they seemed to be the best equipped and most reasonably priced systems available. I called Dell to ask for a catalogue and one was sent within a week. I phoned them to discuss what I was after and they couldn't do enough to help (the call centre is in Ireland, and the staff are very helpful!) I've owned 2 computers over the last 4 years. The first was made by Time, a mail order company that sell cheap but fairly powerful PCs and come bundled with a digital camera, scanner, software and all manner of bells and whistles. With hindsight, what I gained in freebies, I lost in stability and quality of the PC and its core components.
