      Good honest PC

Like the Dell PC I had before, this is a relaible product. Once its out of the boxits up and running instantly, no setup problems. The specification is good for the money and Dell's expertise at building these things comes out. The computor look cool and everything is neatly hidden. Performance wise ths is ideal for anyone wanting to surf the next and general computor use but with enough power to allow the kids to play games to there hearts content. Dell are the Voltswagons of the PC world. They have a very good spec and are reliable, you could get something similar slightly cheaper but you are never quite sure about it. Some people question Dell's against the like of the apple Mac, they may not be as cool but you get a lot more for your money. I've had a Dell of some sort for the last six years and they haven't let me down.

Great computer, excellent Dell service and technical help

My old 4 year old computer hadn't got enough memory for many modern programs so I was particularly looking for a new computer with a good memory specification. I was a bit worried about choosing Dell, as there appears to be so many negative reviews on their sales and services - however the Inspiron 580 had such a good specification list I decided I would risk it. It comes with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. It has a 6 GB memory (which can be increased to 8GB in the future A 1TB Hard Drive. (big enough for a few years use!) The Processor is Intel Intel® CoreTM i3 Processor 530 The Graphics Card has a 1GB memory. You get 1 year free technical support. It has many more specifications but these were the main ones I was looking for. It cost (without a monitor) £527 in March 2010. I added a few available extras: A 3 year In Home Warranty for £100 A 3yr MacAfee Protection at around £80. You are also given a free 10GB of Datasafe Backup and this can be increased as an optional extra. Dell Sales and Technical Services: I found the Indian Call Centre Sales Team excellent and extremely helpful. I explained what I wanted and they took time to advise me on the package. They were knowledgeable , polite and easy to understand. I explained that the estimated delivery date would be during an arranged holiday and they promised to bring it forward. True to promise, they did, and I received my new computer only a week after order. The computer set up was easy and everything worked perfectly. The only problems I had were: 1 )My existing Speedtouch 510 Router was not suitable for a 64 bit program so this had to be changed to a 520. (Makes sure you check your Router supports Windows 764 bit at the same time as ordering a new computer!) 2) Due to my own lack of knowledge I had some difficulty transferring my Favourites, and email from the external drive to new computer. I gave Dell Technical Services a call and they could not have been more helpful. They performed all the changes I required, and more besides, by remote assistance - I didn't have to do a thing! Iwas later contacted by Dell to ask if all was well. I informed them that the only thing I was not pleased with was the keyboard, which was flimsy and had sticky keys. They offered me a replacement keyboard of my choice (on the Dell website) at no extra cost and I still have the old one as a backup. I was quite staggered by this excellent service. We have had the computer for four months now and it is excellent - fast, responsive and 'touch wood' giving no problelms whatsoever. We have not found any drawbacks as yet except the poor keyboard and perhaps the cabinet being a little larger than we expected. Be careful if you are changing to Windows 7 64 bit for the following reasons: You need a USB mouse and keyboard so will not be able to use older plug in types IE 64bit does not support Adobe Flash so you have to change over to IE 32bit which you will find in the All programs list. Adobe are supposed to be working on this! I also had problems installing Adobe Reader so installed Summatra instead and this works well. However, the above problems are to do with Windows 7 which does take a bit of getting used to. I would wholeheartedly reccommend Dell, at the present time.
