Apple iMac MB417B/A ... bought an iMac mostly because I liked the design and I didn t want to be forced to buy a PC with Windows Vista. It has been a mixed blessing. Firstly, the iMac is a beautiful bit of kit. It is well designed, well built and takes up a lot less space than my PC. The DVD unit is incorporated into the monitor, which also contains ports to plug in peripherals. The 20" monitor is crystal clear and the sound from the built-in speakers adequate to hear sound. A camera is set into the monitor, so setting up video calls is a breeze. There are only 2 USB ports, so I have bought a 4-1 adaptor for £20 that allows me to plug in all my bits of kit. For years and years i have been a straight windows user who never dared dive into the world of the mac as it seemed to different to what i used to! Then i began university and began to realise that almost everywhere in my hopefully future profession (working with audio) were using macs off all different shapes and sizes! couldnt see a windows computer anywhere! For all of my assignments and work at university we were put onto macs and i quickly discovered that yes they were different to what i was used to but in a much more efficient way! Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo T ... ve had my Scaleo T for a few years, but it seems like I have had endless problems with it. When first purchased, it was fantastic, however after a while the CPU would regularly turn itself off, after a few minutes. The main issue is that it is poorly designed and has a tendency to overheat and switch itself off. The reason for this is that the heatsink/fan has very few mm of air space, causing dust to build up very easily, causing the fan to provide not enough air to get to the CPU and keep it cool. Seeing as it is a P4 processor, and they are supposed to keep going around 115 degrees centigrade so when it turns itself off, it s not good. If you were to purchase one ...
